After years of working in educational settings, and as I raised my own children, I have developed an understanding of what people need to develop and grow to their full potential. I am passionate about finding what that means to everyone I work with.
Education and Training
I graduated from Cal Poly with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology. In choosing a graduate program, I knew I wanted to train in a way that was aligned to my values, creativity, and the deep searching of the psyche. I found this at Pacifica Graduate Institute where I completed my Master's Degree in Counseling and Depth Psychology. I also did my own therapy, knowing that I can only take someone to their depths, if I have been to my own. I am now a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (#96361) with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.
I have worked with Community Action Partnership as a Parent Educator and Direct Service provider. I have treated children, teens, adults, couples, and families at the Community Counseling Center. I worked on teams in a private, full service agency supporting individuals in extreme mental distress, including schizophrenia and other psychotic states. I have been in private practice over the last several years and I love being able to create an environment that feels friendly, safe, and supportive.
Approach
I am interested in drawing out and encouraging the passions, abilities and potential of others. These are the things that make our lives more fulfilling. I want to help you find the life and emotional well being you desire.
We will be exploring your past, as that shapes your current beliefs and behaviors. We will discuss your symptoms and what you would like to change. I want to know what your strengths are and how they can be used to guide you to your goals and wellness. I will help you find ways to use them.
I can be a non-judgmental listener, as even well intentioned friends and family have their biases and opinions. I will help you understand your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors to gain a deeper understanding into your self and your relationships. I will encourage you to do the things you love, be kinder to yourself and have more meaningful relationships with others and your environment.
Personal
I am an avid music lover. Whether watching live music, listening at home or playing with friends. Music is good therapy. I am creative around the home and in my environment, doing projects of different sorts. I love being in the outdoors from the sea to the mountains. Nature is inspiring, enlivening the senses and imagination. It is a natural healing balm! I enjoy the SLO life mentality and feel fortunate to have such a great community for fun and connection.
